In an attempt to address the growing needs of its service area, which consists of Navarro, Ellis, Freestone, Limestone, and Leon counties, the college began offering courses in various locations in those areas in the early s and eventually established two permanent centers, Navarro College South at Mexia and the Ellis County Center at Waxahachie.
In January, , a new campus in Midlothian opened to better serve students in that area. Navarro College has had six presidents: Mr. Ray Waller, the founding president, served until his death in Ben W.
Jones served from until In , the Board named Dr. Kenneth P. Walker as president, and he served until Gerald E. Burson, joined the college in , serving until his retirement in January Richard M. Sanchez, assumed the presidency in March and served until his retirement in August Navarro College offers students on the Corsicana campus the opportunity to experience what dorm life is all about. Living on campus is a great way for you to get involved with the activities and organizations on campus as well as meet friends that will last a lifetime.
Navarro College housing provides the basic needs for a comfortable, convenient and relaxed living environment. Housing is available to approximately students in either apartment dorms or suite-style dorms. Rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Financial Aid programs are available for students to help meet college expenses. Scholarships are available for extracurricular activities, sports, and general academics. A scholarship application should be completed.
The process takes several weeks and some financial aid programs and scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Navarro College offers the following degrees. Associate in Arts Teaching Degree AAT - This degree is designed for students who plan to pursue a degree in Education for E-4, grade, or E certification at a senior college or university after completion at Navarro College.
Continuing Education Certificate CEC - This certificate does not involve college credit; however, it is intended for individuals who are interested in professional updating, career advancement, personal enrichment, or special certification.
